About us

Suubi Medical Clinic is a non-profit, non-sectarian charity project in the Iganga district of Uganda, dedicated to bringing developmental services to the poor villages of Uganda. Suubi's goals include education and provision of medical care. Through Suubi Clinic we will utilise technology, skills and energy to achieve these goals, while respecting local culture and the existing resources in place.

Donate to Uganda – Priority needs for suubi medical centre

Suubi Medical centre has many needs, please help us and Donate to Uganda. We are currently prioritizing the following broad areas to find support:

Constructing a laboratory, maternity wing and pharmacy unit
Equipping the laboratory and maternity wing (Antenatal care)
Maintaining the stock of medicine in the pharmacy
Installing electricity at the facility
Acquiring means of transport;
- a motorcycle for community clinics and sensitization drives and
- a van to act as an ambulance for referral cases but also for transportation of the medicine from the medical stores from where it is purchased
- Operational and administration costs including salaries for the following staff:
  - 1 clinical officer
  - 1 visiting doctor (twice a week); a general doctor and occasionally a dentist
  - 2 nursing officers,
  - 1 laboratory technician
  - 1 pharmacist/Administrator and
  - 3 support staff

Who We Help

Before Suubi was set up in Busu, the population suffered many major health problems that were compounded by the lack of basic medical care. Suubi Medical Clinic is making a difference. The major issues include:

-Rampant nutritional deficiency, leading to other health problems, such as developing cataracts due to vitamin A deficiency.

-An effective program for children did not exist.

-A high mortality rate of women during childbirth, due to lack of adequate obstetric services.

-Tuberculosis is prevalent in the area, but before Suubi Clinic was founded, there was no treatment available.

-Neither an adequate medical facility nor doctors were available for the treatment of common diseases as well as serious diseases. Common diseases include: fever, malaria, tuberculosis, joint pain, gastroenteritis, worms, respiratory disease, infections and obstetrics.

This Month’s Project

We are looking for resources to give the clinic a new life. We need basic cosmetic work with painting and general structure improvements in preparation for a possible immunisation program in the net few months.
