The team worked very hard together with our local stuff in Uganda to do a very good job. This was our second dental camp run by the same team and from now this is likely to become an annual event. I would like on my behalf and on behalf of Suubi Medical centre to thank Dr Mitsh Badiani of smile star and his team for England for the amazing work they did.

We have opportunity at Suubi Medical centre for any one from any where in the world to come and share their skills in any form, we also have space for elective medical student placements if any one is looking for that.

An article was in the national press of Uganda about this camp and the work of Suubi medical Centre,Please have a look here.

Dear Friends,

I want to wish you all a happy Christmas. Thanks to all of you who have over the last many weeks worked hard to raise the profile of Suubi Medical centre and to help raise funding and support in any way. We are finally ready to re-open. Our new year plan is to take the clinic to the next level by providing more much needed medical care and equipping the clinic with what we need to serve the people in Busu. We are looking to complete the maternity ward and the laboratory so we can test blood for Malaria and other cases we cater for.

I was encouraged this week to meet a girl called Naiga, we looked after her a few years ago when she was 15 years old. She came to our attention after both her Mum and Dad died of HIV aids which Naiga unfortunately contracted at birth. She was very sickly and had no care. Naiga had been thrown out of school because of the stigma attached to HIV , Suubi Clinic started to support her but then she moved and we had not hard from her for 3 years and all along we thought she most likely was dead. This week Naiga came by the clinic and at fist I could not even recognise her not until she introduced her self to me.Naiga is apparently on Anti retral Virals( ARVs) she looks well and has grown into a lovely beautiful young lady.

I was impressed by her attitude towards her situation, she has accepted it and now living responsibly. Naiga has started a small business which involves her walking around 20 kilometres daily, looking for customers to buy used clothes. she however complains of the long trek she encounters on a daily basis as she could miss her regular medication schedules . she now dreams of owning a small shop she says would help to raise her much needed income to improve her general health.

People like Naiga are a real inspiration and the reason Suubi medical centre exists,” saving lives every day”.

Before Suubi was set up in Busu, Uganda the population suffered many major health problems that were compounded by the lack of basic medical care. I Denis Kigongo , set up the Suubi Medical Clinic which is helping to make a difference.Unfortunately the whole project will fold unless more funds are raised urgently and this is why we are seeking your help.

The major issues include:

Rampant nutritional deficiency, leading to other health problems, such as developing cataracts due to vitamin A deficiency

.An effective program for children did not exist.
· A high mortality rate of women during childbirth, due to lack of adequate obstetric services.
Tuberculosis is prevalent in the area, but before Suubi Clinic was founded, there was no treatment available.
· Neither an adequate medical facility nor doctors were available for the treatment of common diseases as well as serious diseases.

Common diseases include: fever, malaria, tuberculosis, gastroenteritis, worms, respiratory disease, infections and obstetrics.

Suubi aims to provide and promote
· Basic medical and dental care services
· Essential maternity and childhood care
· Safe water use and improving nutrition
· Life saving and first aid skills to the people in the village.

· Village workshops on health and counseling
· Sexual and reproductive health awareness and family planning
· Improvements in standards of personal hygiene and lifestyle
· Encouragement to construct and use pit latrines in the villages
· Treatment of common diseases including fever, malaria, tuberculosis, joint pain, gastroenteritis, parasite, respiratory diseases, infections and obstetrics.

· Help in getting serious and emergency cases to the city hospital in Iganga.
· Balanced nutrition programs for children and pregnant women with vitamins, proteins and other nutrients.
· Basis education seminars and an effective program for polio, tetanus, diphtheria, hepatitis and other diseases
· An emergency service

The money we raise is vital to continue this clinic.

For example,
· £20 will pay a helper’s salary for a month
· £100 will pay a trained nurse for a month
· £200 will pay a visiting doctor for 4 weeks
· £400 will buy a stock of medicines to last for 3 months
· £1000 will equip the maternity ward
· £2000 will build a 2-room accommodation facility for the nurses
· £4000 will ship a container with donated equipment from the UK to Uganda

Please help if you are able.
Best wishes

Denis Kigongo Victor

Dear friends and supporters, you might have noticed that Suubi Clinic website has been down for a while , this is because we were having major difficulty to keep it up and keep the clinic open because of the tough economic times we are all facing we had to close for a bit. Thanks to our supporters and to Black Pen press who kindly donated their time to help keep Suubi clinic website operational.

I would also like to thank every one who has helped us in the past to keep this work going, but we now desperately need new support from any one any where to help get the clinic up and running again.

Our challenge is to raise £300 per month to support the cost of maintenance and continue providing medical services to help and provide health care for women children and the vulnerable in Busu and the near by Villages in Iganga.

If you are able to make a regular donation of £3 per month or more, please contact us and we can send you a standing order mandate. This is particularly important to cover the ongoing cost of running the clinic.

I can assure you that no funds donated go to admin charges of any sort, every penny will go directly to Busu to help Suubi Clinic.

We are looking for help from anyone who feels able to contribute, whether by a donation, fundraising or volunteering in any way, schools, Churches, community groups, youth groups, Individuals any one.

Please get in touch
