About us

Suubi Medical Clinic is a non-profit, non-sectarian charity project in the Iganga district of Uganda, dedicated to bringing developmental services to the poor villages of Uganda. Suubi's goals include education and provision of medical care. Through Suubi Clinic we will utilise technology, skills and energy to achieve these goals, while respecting local culture and the existing resources in place.

The Staff

The Clinic in ht past has been covered by 4 medical staff but due to financial difficult we are only down to 2, any extra support will help us employ 2 more people.

Suubi to function properly needs to have four medical staff and three support staff.
-One senior Medical Officer
-One clinical officer
-Two Nurses

-One Compound Cleaner
-One Night Watchman.
-One Ward Cleaner/cook

The medical clinic was started and is still over seen by Denis Kigongo Victor and supported by a resident administrator and Over sear and local village leader Henry Wanfuko. The medical centre has a health management committee with five members (4 men, including a youth, and 1 woman)

Who We Help

Before Suubi was set up in Busu, the population suffered many major health problems that were compounded by the lack of basic medical care. Suubi Medical Clinic is making a difference. The major issues include:

-Rampant nutritional deficiency, leading to other health problems, such as developing cataracts due to vitamin A deficiency.

-An effective program for children did not exist.

-A high mortality rate of women during childbirth, due to lack of adequate obstetric services.

-Tuberculosis is prevalent in the area, but before Suubi Clinic was founded, there was no treatment available.

-Neither an adequate medical facility nor doctors were available for the treatment of common diseases as well as serious diseases. Common diseases include: fever, malaria, tuberculosis, joint pain, gastroenteritis, worms, respiratory disease, infections and obstetrics.

This Month’s Project

We are looking for resources to give the clinic a new life. We need basic cosmetic work with painting and general structure improvements in preparation for a possible immunisation program in the net few months.
